150 young leaders gather in Russia to discuss how to develop youth in the world

Moscow, Russia, February 8, 2020 – The AIESEC International Presidents Meeting 2020 is taking place in Moscow, Russia from February 9th to 16th. This conference brings together over 150 young leaders from over 120 countries and territories, each of whom is the country head of their respective national AIESEC offices.

AIESEC National Presidents come together to engage in critical discussions on how to shape the future of the organisation and develop more youth leaders around the world.

David Lesmes, a young Colombian, had the opportunity to attend last year’s International Presidents Meeting in Tunisia as the National President of AIESEC in France.

“Attending the International President’s Meeting is a unique experience. Young leaders from more than 120 countries and territories get together under a roof to continue to take our organization one step closer to peace and fulfillment of Humankind’s potential. This space is a representation of how global relations and agreements should work: respectful, powerful, innovative and inclusive. At this space you get the opportunity to see youth  leadership at its finest.”, says David.

This conference plays a strategic role in AIESEC’s annual leadership handover as the attendees gather to elect the organization’s new Global President for the term 2020-2021. The elected president will officially begin their term leading the global office in Montreal, Canada, on the 1st of September 2020.

In addition to electing Global President of AIESEC for the next term, this conference will also host a Partnerships Day themed ‘Leaders for 2030’. Partners of AIESEC will engage with the attendees, having discussions around a trend that is shaping the world and youth today: “The Future of Work”.  The attendees will have the opportunity to build essential skills to lead in the 21st century and to connect with like-minded organisations.

AIESEC in Russia is hosting this International Presidents Meeting under the theme:  “Solve the mystique. Clarify Russia”.

“We want to show Russia free of stereotypes. As easy as it is. We want to show another Russia, the real Russia. The one that is warm, open minded and pure. Through the preparation process of this conference, my team and I, we discovered a new side of our country, its people and we fell in love again with our own country. We hope you fall in love with Russia as well. “

– Anastasia Komovich, International Presidents Meeting Conference Manager
