Stop listening the noise

“Don’t ever let somebody tell you that you can’t do something. Not even me. You got a dream, you gotta protect it. When people can’t do something themselves, they are gonna tell you that you can’t do it. You want something, go get it. Period.”
-The Pursuit of Happiness

Since birth we are socially conditioned to behave and act in a way that society generally approves. Among other factors, the interaction among individuals can shape in both constructive and destructive manners. And as we grow we face the challenge of listening to what others say is best for yourself. The truth is that you have to stop listening the noise to start listening to yourself.

STORY NOISE

When I was a kid I used to dream about being an inventor. One day, before I realized how funny your dreams can seem to others, someone called me “stupid”. When I joined middle school I was very into music. On my first lesson of guitar the teacher told us “you are here to learn the basics, don’t dream too high”. When I got to highschool I wanted to try martial arts. On my first week of nippon kempo, some guy from school told me “you are too weak”.

You see, everyone has an opinion and a point of view based on their perspective and experience. Everyone knows how you can achieve your perfect life but you look back at them and you can see how they have not achieved theirs.

The quick outcome of this is the following: I am part of the first latinamerican team to participate in the University Rover Challenge for 2018. I self-taught how to play five musical instruments and have delivered lessons of self-defense in the last two years.

My point here is more of a personal way of thinking. I believe we are all made of the same materials and everything you desire, aspire and want can be achieved. The only difference between those who succeed and those who get stuck, is their capacity to keep going despite everyone who told them to quit.

TRAFFIC LIGHT NOISE

It is important that you perceive life as a traffic light. There are things you have to start doing, continue doing and stop doing. A good start point is to understand what moves you and hold to it. I believe that all we need to achieve the unexpected is within ourselves. We just have to silence our thoughts and listen to what we have inside. At the end no one knows what you are capable of but your own self.

Most of the times the worst critic is the one you make for yourself. Even worse to believe what others think about you. Have in mind that you are the one who give guide to your life and only you can listen and understand what you really are despite what people say.

Share your story to the world. Tell us that moment in your life when you stopped listening to the noise and you achieved the unexpected.
