[New York, March-April 2024] – AIESEC, the world’s largest youth-run organization, made significant progress in its commitment to advancing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) during its participation at the 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68) and the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The engagements underscored AIESEC’s dedication to fostering youth leadership and catalyzing positive global change.
AIESEC’s involvement at CSW68 and ECOSOC exemplified its unwavering dedication to the SDGs and its role in shaping the global agenda for 2030. Despite AIESEC’s widespread recognition, there was a prevailing need to articulate its specific contributions to the SDGs. Recognizing this, AIESEC emphasized the urgency of aligning efforts to overcome delays in achieving the ambitious targets set forth in Agenda 2030.

Notably, during the fast-paced environment of these gatherings, AIESEC prioritized meaningful connections. Despite time constraints, AIESEC remained accessible, engaging with various stakeholders and fostering strategic alliances for greater impact. Leveraging the power of social media, AIESEC aimed to bridge the gap between activism and tangible action, emphasizing the importance of mutual consultancy to drive real change. Memorable engagements included fruitful discussions with international youth organizations from Latin America, Spain, and Portugal, shedding light on the intersection of economic conditions and internal dynamics. Dialogues with UN Women highlighted critical issues such as accessibility (DEI), poverty alleviation, and amplifying voices from marginalized communities.
AIESEC’s encounter with the Secretary-General during a Q&A session at UN Women left a lasting impression, reinforcing the belief in the importance of proactive measures and inclusive decision-making. Recognized for its unique transversal approach to global challenges, AIESEC emerged as a distinctive voice in the UN arena, emphasizing directness and impact-driven initiatives.
Additionally, at ECOSOC, AIESEC leveraged networking opportunities to forge meaningful connections, underscoring the importance of proactive engagement and informed participation. Looking ahead, AIESEC remains committed to its mission of empowering young leaders and driving collective action towards sustainable development.
