AIESEC International Presidents Meeting, February 12-19, 2019, Hammamet, Tunisia

Canada, Montreal, March 1, 2019 –  AIESEC’s Annual International Presidents Meeting took place in Hammamet, Tunisia from February 12th to 19th. The conference was organized under the High Patronage of the head of Tunisian government Mr. Youssef Chahed.  International Presidents Meeting brought together over 170 young leaders representing over 120 countries and territories. 

The objective of the conference was to decide on the future direction of the organization and to build relevant leadership skills in AIESEC’s top youth leaders. 

During the conference, the attendees selected a new Global President for the term 2019-2020- Aleksandra Robinson. Aleksandra will officially begin her term leading the global office in Montreal, Canada on the 1st of September 2019.

In addition to electing the new Global President of AIESEC, this conference also hosted Partnerships Day themed ‘Leaders for 2030’. Partners of AIESEC engaged with the youth delegates, to have discussions around the top trends shaping the world, essential skills to lead in the 21st century and collaborations needed to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Insightful keynotes were delivered by Ana Saldarriaga- the Deputy Head of the Global Shapers Community from World Economic Forum, Mr. Drew Gardiner- Youth Employment Specialist in the Employment Policy Department of the ILO in Geneva and Arrey Obenson- JCI Secretary-General. Additionally, International SOS, WWF, Plan International, JCI, Husqvarna Group, Mindvalley, and Internet Society delivered insightful capacity building spaces for the delegates. To watch the Partnerships Day video re-cap click here.

Leaders for 2030 is about partnering with organizations who actively believe and invest in the capabilities of young people. Whether it’s committing to creating more decent job opportunities for youth or supporting the development of social projects, AIESEC’s global partner group continue to embody what it means to invest in the generation of tomorrow.
