The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) is one of the world’s most influential spaces for shaping the future of global development. In its latest edition, AIESEC took part in key conversations that will define the next chapter of international cooperation, reaffirming its mission to empower young people as agents of change who lead with values, vision, and action.
For more than 75 years, AIESEC has inspired thousands of young people across over 100 territories to become conscious leaders—connecting cultures, creating solutions, and driving impact through transformative experiences. Participation in UNGA marked another step in that mission: elevating the voice of youth and building bridges with global organizations committed to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

During the event, AIESEC’s delegation engaged in high-level spaces alongside companies, foundations, universities, and multilateral institutions committed to youth development and sustainability.
Key partners included SAP, EY, YWCA, YMCA, IYC Youth, UN Foundation, UN Youth, Misk Foundation, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award USA, UNIDO, AFS, World Scouts, as well as government representatives from several countries.
One of the most significant moments was AIESEC’s participation in the “Skills for Success for Youth” event, organized in collaboration with SAP and UNIDO, which focused on the essential competencies young people must develop to thrive in a rapidly evolving global workforce.

During his intervention, Abdul Wasay, Business Development Manager of AIESEC International, emphasized the urgency of accelerating progress toward the SDGs and the importance of building sustainable alliances with like-minded organizations. He also shared AIESEC’s forward-looking vision toward 2030, including its commitment to strengthening long-term youth leadership, promoting STEM education in Africa, and advancing women’s education as key drivers of global transformation.
Additionally, he called for greater youth involvement in conversations regarding the future leadership of the United Nations, stressing the importance of young and diverse representation in global decision-making processes.
Beyond formal sessions and high-level meetings, UNGA provided AIESEC delegates with the opportunity to experience leadership from a truly global perspective.
Representative of AIESEC in Japan, shared how the event allowed her to step outside the “AIESEC bubble” and understand how different institutions tackle similar global challenges from complementary angles:

Yu also highlighted the value of engaging with Japanese government officials, which allowed her to reflect on the organization’s role in addressing national priorities while connecting them with global action.
AIESEC’s representation at the United Nations General Assembly was carried by a culturally diverse delegation that embodied the strength and global mindset of the youth movement.
The delegation included leaders from AIESEC International, as well as members from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, and Colombia—among them Abdul Wasay; Amira Farrah; Nikolaus Schade; Jimena Tintinago; Yu Okabayashi; Austin Sturgess Williams; Sofia Svilenova Kalaykova; and Yokelvy Vargas.

Each delegate contributed a unique perspective shaped by their country and experience, demonstrating that youth leadership knows no borders—and that impact grows exponentially when voices from around the world come together to build shared solutions.
