Montreal, Canada, February 3rd, 2021 – AIESEC’s biggest annual event, set to be hosted online and bring together 13 000 young members of the organization from across 110+ countries and territories.
Adaptation and Resilience in the Face of Challenges
The biggest annual event for the members, alumni, and partners of AIESEC was set to take place this year during July in Malaysia.
Nevertheless, after long consideration and taking into account the current world context and regulations due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the AIESEC International team has decided to host the International Congress 2021 as an online event, after having a positive experience delivering International Congress 2020 in the same fashion.
The 73rd annual International Congress is then set to start on the 25th of July and unfold virtually over eight days until the 1st of August.
Learnings from 2020 and Moving Forward in 2021
After hosting International Congress virtually as well as several other online initiatives in 2020, AIESEC has learned how to provide its young members with spaces as equally engaging and welcoming as their physical counterparts.
Turning the New Normal into an opportunity, the International Congress 2020 became AIESEC’s chance to host its biggest conference to date – going from an exclusive physical event of around 800 delegates to becoming the largest, most inclusive, and accessible International Congress of AIESEC in its 72 years of history.
Now, in 2021, the AIESEC International Team draws from these learnings and prepares to welcome 13.000 delegates from over 110+ countries and territories.
Thanking AIESEC in Malaysia and the Organizing Committee 2021
The AIESEC International team would like to thank AIESEC in Malaysia for their hospitality and interest in hosting the event, and the Organizing Committee for their hard work and their understanding of the changes required to ensure the safety of the delegates.
