Hyderabad, India, July 6, 2019– AIESEC International Congress is taking place in Hyderabad, India from July 6th to 13th.
In its 71st edition, the Congress will gather more than 400 youth from over 120 countries and territories worldwide to celebrate youth leadership, cultural diversity and host discussions about three main themes that impact the world: sustainable development, entrepreneurship, and youth employability. During the conference, AIESEC leaders representing their local and national offices will review the organizational state of affairs, create strategies and decide on the plans for the future towards the AIESEC’s ambition to be recognized as the youth leadership organization by the year of 2020.
International Congress 2019 is also a celebration of another important milestone AIESEC’s journey towards the fulfillment of the mission of the organization- Peace and Fulfillment of Humankind’s potential. Over 400 delegates and virtual attendees will have the opportunity to give insights into the creation of AIESEC’s strategy for years 2020-2025. Delegates will also undergo capacity building workshops to further develop their leadership and soft skills.
“I remember back in 2015 what an incredible experience it was to be a delegate of the Congress where we created the 2020 Strategy for the organization. 5 years later its a privilege to be back in India again as the global president of AIESEC leading the last year of the AIESEC 2020 strategy and creating the new one” says Alexandra Robinson, Global President-elect.
One of the major highlights of the Congress’ activities is the “Global Village”, where every country and territory that AIESEC is present in showcases their culture through their traditional outfits, food, music, and culture, as well as provide awareness about local and national community issues.
This conference will also host a Partnerships Day themed ‘Leaders for 2030 Summit’, a one-day function where AIESEC partners come together with young leaders to support the development of the qualities young people need to contribute the 2030 Global Agenda and to create solutions for furthering the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. During the Summit Electrolux, RSPO, PwC, ADB, Amplifon, Internet Society, Plan International, and JCI will deliver insightful keynotes and workshops.
As the highlight of the day, over 400 Forum delegates will deliver the World’s Largest Lesson created by Project Everyone and UNICEF together with Electrolux’ Food Foundation to teach youth and local citizens around the city about the importance of responsible consumption.
