Bucharest, Romania, February 12, 2018 – Under the High Patronage of the President of Romania, the AIESEC International Presidents Meeting 2018 is taking place in Bucharest, Romania from February 12 to 18, 2018. This conference brings together over 200 young leaders from over 122 countries and territories, each of whom is the country head of the AIESEC national offices worldwide. The objective of this conference is to decide on the future direction of the organization as it relates to AIESEC’s 2020 plan.

This conference plays a pivotal role in AIESEC’s annual leadership handover as the delegates convene to elect the organization’s new interim President who will officially begin their term in September 2018 in AIESEC’s new global office in Montreal, Canada.

This year’s conference is unique as for the first time, it is hosted in Romania, home of the Carpathian mountains, known also for its wine, salt mines, medieval fortresses, primeval dense forests, coast on the Black Sea, and sunflower fields. “We are beyond excited to be here this year!” states Abdelrahman Ayman, AIESEC’s Global President.

As the hosting entity, AIESEC in Romania is honored to have the chance to organize this event and be an example of youth taking action on global and local problems in the country. “In these times, we are witnessing the emergence of a young generation that is in need of addressing the needs of the country, raise their voice and be the generation that will take Romania forward. I believe that young people have the extraordinary capacity of dreaming and if given the inspiration, confidence and space, they can turn their dreams into reality. Six months ago, the idea of having an AIESEC global conference in Romania was just a dream, now we are transforming it into reality. A reality that is going to give the young people in Romania the confirmation that we can raise our voice and take Romania and the world forward.” Adrian Adam, President of AIESEC in Romania, said.

In addition to electing the new Global President of AIESEC for the 2018-19 term, this conference will also hold a Partnerships for the Goals Day, where the young delegates will create together with top global organizations committed to SDGs, projects based on the UN 2030 agenda.
